I believe that news has evolved within the past 20 years due to new and digital media. For example the internet has attracted a large target audience into looking at the news every single day. It has single-handedly taken over the amount of people watching TV.
Audiences have benefited the most due to this opposed to institutions as without them, there would be no sales within new gadgets such as iPads, smartphones etc. in order to access the internet into using new and digital media such as social networks in order to access the news.
On the other hand, institutions benefited from the change within news as more people were wanting to buy new gadgets in order to look-up news, the institutions would gain a raise in awareness and would ultimately lead to an increase in sales and profits due to this and more people buying newspapers or magazines for example, people purchasing apps for newspapers for The Guardian on their smartphones.
